Hampstead Heath from the 1820s to the 1920s: a century-long campaign CANCELLED

By the 1820s London was fast expanding and local landlords were busy developing their lands. Hampstead’s Lord of the Manor was no different, but thanks to local activism, state intervention and not a little skulduggery the Heath was saved. You can see for yourself a landscape still marked by that 100 year battle…if you know where to look.
